About The Australian Society of Authors (ASA)

The Australian Society of Authors (ASA) was established in 1963 as the peak national association for authors. They provide advocacy, support and advice to aspiring and professional authors and illustrators.

How ASA can help

  • Advocacy
ASA campaigns at industry and government levels for author and illustrator rights, pay rates and also represent members' interests to relevant policy-making bodies.
  • Support
ASA provides training and mentorships to support members' writing and run awards, residencies and can help with financial aid through their Benevolent Fund.
  • Advice
ASA can provide standard contracts or individual advice for members across a wide range of industry issues.
